Visit Villers-Bretonneux, an important site of Australian remembrance on the Western Front.
The area includes the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery and Sir John Monash Centre, which tells the story of Australian service on the Western Front through immersive displays and personal accounts. The centre is free to visit.
Continue through the Somme battlefield landscape to Lochnagar Crater, created by one of the enormous mines detonated beneath German positions on 1 July 1916.
The crater is preserved as a First World War memorial and can be visited during daylight hours.
Continue towards Pozières, an area particularly associated with intense fighting during the Battle of the Somme.
Visit the imposing Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, one of the most important Commonwealth memorials on the Western Front.
Time is allowed to discover the memorial, cemetery and surrounding battlefield landscape.
Continue to the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial, where preserved battlefield terrain, trenches, cemeteries and the Caribou Monument provide an exceptional insight into the events of 1916.
Approximately 1 hour will be allowed for lunch during the day.
Lunch is not included, giving you the freedom to choose according to your preferences and the day’s itinerary.

The Somme contains a remarkable number of battlefield sites, memorials and military cemeteries, and it is not possible to visit them all in one day.
