Enjoy our full day private Loire valley castles tour. From the 15th to 18th century, the Loire Valley was the ‘playground’ for the royals. Discover a region with an abundance of medieval, classical & renaissance castles, gothic churches and last but not least, vineyards! Lunch in a typical restaurant is included, if you prefer to make your own arrangements, it’s possible to book the same tour without lunch.
The Loire Valley Castles tour takes in 3 of the most spectacular castles of the region:
Chenonceau Castle : built on the River Cher it’s one of the Loire Valley’s most beautiful chateaux, known as the ‘Chateau des Dames’, it owes its charm to women. Designed by Katherine Briconnet, wife of a wealthy financier – she wanted an intimate & elegant chateau inspired by Italy. Later, the chateau was embellished by Diane de Poitiers & Catherine de Medici.
Chambord Castle : the largest of the Loire valley chateaux, Chambord Castle is surrounded by Europe’s largest enclosed forest park. in the early 16C, 2000 workers worked for 20 years to complete the chateau.
Amboise Castle : built in 15C & 16C, the royal castle of Amboise was the first in France to reflect the Italian Renaissance style
